Durham Police say they have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted robbery in Chester-le-Street
A 19 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery at a Sainsbury's in The Avenue.
Earlier armed officers, Police dogs and several vehicles surrounded a house in Grey Avenue.
They say Police will remain in the area while they search the property.
Durham Police have told Heart they got a call from a concerned member of the public over the safety of a man in the house.
They said there is the possibility of a knife involved.
